- كأس العالم لألعاب القوى مسابقة لألعاب القوى خاصة بالفرق، ينظمها الاتحاد الدولي لألعاب القوى. يتم جمع الفرق من القارات الخمس (ذكور وإناث)، نظمت الدورة الأولى سنة 1977، وينظم الكأس كل سنتين إلى غاية 1994 ليتحول إلى كل أربع سنوات. 2006 كانت الدورة الأخيرة للكأس ليتم إستبدالها سنة 2010 بكأس القارات لألعاب القوى والتي ستنظم بسبليت (كرواتيا) (ar)
- La Copa Continental d'atletisme (en anglès: IAAF Continental Cup), antigament Copa del Món d'atletisme (IAAF World Cup), és una competició internacional d'atletisme per equips mixtos de cada continent, que organitza l'Associació Internacional de Federacions d'Atletisme (IAAF). Es disputa cada quatre anys en una seu designada per la federació. En el format antic participaven equips que representaven tant a nacions com a continents. Habitualment prenen part nou equips: cinc que representaven els continents (Europa, Amèrica, Àfrica, Àsia i Oceania), dues nacions europees (les dues primeres en l'última ), els Estats Units i el país organitzador. Perquè el país organitzador pogués prendre part com a equip propi, l'estadi on se celebrava la competició havia de tenir nou carrers. Els equips de cada continent podien incloure atletes de tots els països d'aquest continent tret d'aquells que comptessin amb equip propi. Per exemple l'equip d'Amèrica incloïa atletes de tots els països d'Amèrica llevat dels Estats Units, que presentaven un equip propi. La primera edició de la Copa del Món d'atletisme es va celebrar a Düsseldorf el 1977. La periodicitat va començar sent bianual, però a partir de 1981 se celebrà cada quatre anys. La IAAF oferia premis als atletes segons el lloc que ocupaven: 30.000 dòlars al guanyador, 15.000 al segon, 10.000 al tercer i així successivament fins a 1.000 dòlars que li donaven al vuitè. A partir de l'edició de 2010 a Split, es va canviar el format i la competició va canviar de nom a Copa Continental de la IAAF. El nombre d'equips regionals es va reduir a quatre: Àfrica, Amèrica, Àsia/Pacífic i Europa, mentre es van eliminar els equips nacionals. A més a més, les competicions que separaven homes i domes es van fusionar, de tal forma que els equips continentals competien en un únic torneig mixt. (ca)
- Kontinentální pohár v atletice (oficiálně: IAAF Continental Cup) je mezinárodní atletický šampionát, který je pořádán federací IAAF nepravidelně od roku 1977. Od svého založení až do roku 2008 nesl název Světový pohár. Formát tohoto šampionátu je atypický, jedná se o týmovou soutěž, kde proti sobě soutěží atletické týmy Evropy, Ameriky, Afriky a Asie + Oceánie. V každé disciplíně se představí 2 ženy a 2 muži za každý tým. (cs)

- Der Leichtathletik-Continentalcup (offiziell World Athletics Continental Cup), bis einschließlich 2006 ausgetragen als Leichtathletik-Weltcup, war eine internationale Leichtathletikveranstaltung, die vom Leichtathletik-Weltverband IAAF (heute World Athletics genannt) veranstaltet wurde. Zuletzt wurde der Continentalcup alle vier Jahre ausgetragen und fand letztmals 2018 im tschechischen Ostrava statt. Seit der ersten Austragung hatte sich nicht nur der Name der Veranstaltung geändert, sondern auch das Reglement. Es traten die vier Mannschaften Afrika, Amerika, Australasien (Ozeanien/Asien) und Europa gegeneinander an. In jedem Wettbewerb starteten zwei Mitglieder jeder Mannschaft und bei den Mittel- und Langstrecken drei Mitglieder, wobei auch dort nur die besten zwei Sportler jedes Teams gewertet wurden. Die Siegermannschaft wurde durch Addition der Punkte ermittelt, die die Vertreter der jeweiligen Mannschaft in den einzelnen Disziplinen erzielten. - The IAAF Continental Cup was an international track and field competition organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The event was proposed by IAAF former President Primo Nebiolo and was first held in 1977 as the IAAF World Cup. The event was initially held every two years, but following the establishment of the World Athletics Championships it moved to a quadrennial basis. The 1989 edition was held the same year as the World Indoor Championships, then moved to the even-year between Summer Olympics, ensuring the sport of athletics had a global competition in all years. The original format included separate men's and women's competitions consisting of 21 events each, with team points being awarded for the finishing position of each athlete. Eight teams, five continental and three national, entered an athlete in each event: if the stadium had a ninth lane, the host nation would also be permitted to enter. The eight entrants included the United States, the top two nations in the preceding European Cup and continental teams comprising Africa, Asia, Oceania, the rest of the Americas (North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association and Confederación Sudamericana de Atletismo), and the rest of Europe. From 2010, the event was rebranded to the IAAF Continental Cup, with the national teams being removed, and team scoring incorporated both the sexes. Two athletes per individual event were entered by four regional teams: Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe and the Americas), though the regions had only one team each for the relay events. After a decision at the 206th IAAF Council Meeting, held after the 2016 Summer Olympics, long-distance events were removed from the programme, and the 4 × 400 metres relay event was modified to a mixed-gender event. A nation-based competition, the Athletics World Cup, was staged in 2018 by an independent promoter. The IAAF competition was briefly rebranded as the World Athletics Continental Cup in 2019, but the event was scrapped in March 2020. (en)

Otra diferencia respecto a la Copa del Mundo, era que, mientras en esta existía una clasificación general final por separado para hombres y otra para mujeres, en esta nueva competición, sólo existía una única clasificación general donde se incluían los resultados masculinos y femeninos.
