- Els eyaks són una tribu índia del grup na-dené, que s'autoanomenaven Unalakmiut. El seu nom prové de l'inuit chugach iiyiaraq "coll", per la forma de llac que té la part del riu on viuen.Vivien a la costa del sud Pacífic d'Alaska, entre la desembocadura del riu Cooper i les muntanyes Saint Elias. - Die Eyak gehören zu den Indigenen Völker Alaskas (Alaska Natives) und sind heute als Native Village of Eyak offiziell auf Bundesebene als Stamm (in Alaska Native Village genannt) anerkannt, das “Native Village of Eyak” selbst ist als Alaska Native Village Statistic Area (ANVSA) Teil des Stadtgebiets von Cordova; heute leben die Eyak zudem in Yakutat und im übrigen Alaska. Die Eyak besiedelten große Teile der heutigen Valdez-Cordova Census Area, ihre Gebiete umfassten die Region am Golf von Alaska zwischen Copper River und Icy Bay südlich des Mount Saint Elias. Um 2002 hatte der Stamm rund 170 Mitglieder, von denen aber nur noch eines ausschließlich Eyak-Vorfahren hatte. (de)
- The Eyak (Eyak: ʔi·ya·ɢdəlahɢəyu·, literally "inhabitants of Eyak Village at Mile 6") are a Native American indigenous group historically located on the Copper River Delta and near the town of Cordova, Alaska. Today, Eyak people live in Cordova, Yakutat, across Alaska, and the U.S. Many of them do not qualify to be tribal members in the native village of Eyak, a federally recognized Alaska Native tribe which was established through the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act in 1971. This is due to the enrollment qualifications that extend tribal membership only to those who reside in the town of Cordova for the majority of the year. (en)
