- Batoo is a Korean variant of the board game Go. The name stems from a combination of the Korean words baduk (“Go”) and juntoo (“battle”). It is played entirely in cyberspace, and differs from Go in a number of ways, most noticeably in the way in which certain areas of the board are worth different point values. The other principal difference is that both players place three stones before the game begins, and may also place a special “hidden stone”, which affects the board as a regular stone but is invisible to the opponent. It was launched in November 2008; in April 2021 a new server at foh.epizy.com started to manage Batoo games. (en)
- 바투(Batoo)는 바둑전투의 줄임말로 바둑 특유의 집을 차지하기 위한 방식에 고도의 심리전 요소와 연막작전 등이 동반되는 온라인 보드전략 게임이다. 온미디어는 바둑TV를 운영하면서 바둑의 스포츠화를 위해 노력했으나 바둑의 기력에 따른 불균형적 요소는 바둑에 익숙치 않은, 젊은 세대가 빠져들기에 어려운 점이 많았다. 따라서 바둑을 기초로 한 신개념의 게임을 제작하기로 결정하고 바투 제작을 시작했다. 바투 제작에는 국내 유수의 프로바둑기사가 참여하여 바둑에 충실하면서도 바둑과 친해지기 좋은 조건을 구상했다. 바투는 필드 특성과 각종 전략요소의 이용이 승패를 좌우할 정도로 전략적 움직임이 중요하다. 이 요소의 이용에 따라서는 기력이 뛰어난 프로바둑기사와도 대등한 대국이 가능했다. 바투를 소개할 때 조훈현 9단은 “바투는 바둑의 심오한 전략성과 현대인이 열광할 만한 요소들이 멋지게 결합됐다”며,“냉철한 상황 판단, 상대의 심리를 꿰뚫는 직관력을 적절히 활용해야 하는 새로운 전략 게임”이라고 평가했으며 김승준 9단과의 스페셜 대국에서는 요소의 활용을 알 수가 없어 어렵다고 평했었다. 2010년 10월 28일에 서비스가 종료되었다.
