- The 2011 Pacific Nations Cup was a rugby union tournament held between the four national sides on the Pacific Rim: Fiji, Japan, Samoa and Tonga. Samoa was the reigning champion after they defeated Fiji in the 2010 competition at Apia Park. The tournament began on July 2 and ended on July 13, 2011 with most of the matches hosted by Fiji. Only the match between Asian 5 Nations champion, Japan and Samoa was played at Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium in Japan. The tournament was moved to Fiji from Japan after the devastating March, 2011 Japan Tsunami. The tournament was a round-robin where each team plays all of the other teams once. There were four points for a win, two for a draw and none for a defeat. There were also bonus points offered with one bonus point for scoring four or more tries in a match and one bonus point for losing by 7 points or less. Japan were crowned Champions after defeating Fiji and scoring their fourth try the last play of the final match of the tournament giving them the bonus point they needed to go with an earlier win over Tonga. Ill discipline by Fiji cost them the game and gifted the Pacific Nations Cup to Japan at the expense of Tonga. Fiji finished the match with 12 men after conceding 2 red and 3 yellow cards, an unenviable world record. (en)

Ursprünglich hätten alle Spiele in Tokio ausgetragen werden sollen, diese mussten aber nach dem verheerenden Tōhoku-Erdbeben 2011 verlegt werden. Den Titel gewann erstmals Japan. - La Coupe des nations du Pacifique 2011 (en anglais : Pacific Nations Cup 2011) est la sixième édition de la compétition. Elle regroupe les équipes des Samoa, des Fidji, des Tonga et du Japon. Celles-ci utilisent ce tournoi comme matches préparatoires pour la Coupe du monde. La compétition a vu la victoire de l'équipe nationale du Japon. Bien qu'à égalité de points avec l'équipe nationale des Tonga, elle remporte l'épreuve grâce à la règle qui donne la prépondérance au match qui les a opposés et qui s'est terminé par la victoire du Japon. L'équipe du Japon de rugby à XV remporte, pour la première fois de son histoire, la Coupe des nations du Pacifique. Même si, lors du dernier match l'opposant à l'équipe nationale des Fidji, elle profite de l'indiscipline des Fidjiens qui subirent deux cartons rouges et trois jaunes. Menée 8 à 0 à la pause, elle réussit à inscrire quatre essais et gagner ce dernier match avec le bonus offensif. (fr)
- L'IRB Pacific Nations Cup 2011 è stata la sesta edizione dell'IRB Pacific Nations Cup, torneo di rugby che ha visto la partecipazione delle selezioni del Pacifico. L'edizione è stata disputata quasi interamente nelle Figi tra il 2 e il 13 giugno, dopo che il terremoto e maremoto verificatisi nella nazione giapponese pochi mesi prima avevano costretto i nipponici ad abbandonare l'organizzazione della manifestazione seppur mantenendo Tokyo come sede della prima partita del torneo del Giappone. Le squadre hanno dato vita a un girone all'italiana incontrandosi tra loro una volta e il torneo è stato vinto dal Giappone, forte di due vittorie negli incontri con Tonga e Figi contro le quali ha conquistato anche 2 punti bonus per avere segnato 4 mete.
