As First Vice President of Domingo Díaz Arosemena he became President of Panama on July 28, 1949 and served until November 20, 1949, when he was forcibly ousted by police chief José ("Chichi") Remón. He was succeeded by Díaz Arosemena's Second Vice President, Roberto Chiari. He belonged to the Liberal Party. (en)

- Daniel Chanis Pinzón (* 20. November 1892 in Panama-Stadt; † 2. Januar 1961) war ein panamaischer Mediziner und Politiker. Er amtierte als 24. Staatspräsident des Landes. Pinzón studierte Medizin an der University of Edinburgh, Schottland, wo er 1917 auch graduierte. Seine Karriere als Arzt war sowohl in Schottland als auch in Panama erfolgreich und veröffentlichte in dieser Zeit zahlreiche medizinische Werke. Durch sein politisches Engagement wurde auch seine politische Karriere zum Erfolg. Bald wurde er Staatssekretär des Finanzministerium, danach Generalkonsul Panamas in Liverpool und London sowie 1948 Vizepräsident seines Landes. Am 28. - Daniel Chanis Pinzón (Panamá, 20 de noviembre de 1892 - 22 de enero de 1961) fue un médico y político panameño y Presidente de Panamá desde el 28 de julio hasta el 25 de noviembre de 1949, luego del grave estado de salud del Presidente Domingo Díaz Arosemena. Graduado en la Universidad de Edimburgo en 1917, trabajó como médico en Escocia y en Panamá. Como político fue Ministro de Hacienda y Tesoro, concejal, cónsul de Panamá en Liverpool y Londres.
