The 1972 United States presidential election in North Carolina took place on November 7, 1972, as part of the 1972 United States presidential election. Voters chose 13 representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president. This is the first election in which a presidential candidate won North Carolina with more than 1,000,000 votes. This is also the best Republican presidential election performance in the history of the state.
