レッドデータブック（Red Data Book、略記：RDB）は、絶滅のおそれのある野生生物に関する保全状況や分布、生態、影響を与えている要因等の情報を記載した図書である。1966年にIUCN（国際自然保護連合）が中心となって作成されたものに始まり、現在は各国や団体等によってもこれに準じるものが多数作成されている。日本で単に「レッドデータブック」と言うときは、環境省によるもの、あるいはIUCNによるものを指すことが多い。本項では環境省作成のものを中心として記すので、IUCNによるもの、日本以外の国によるもの、日本の地方自治体によるものなどについてはを参照。 A Regional Red List is a report of the threatened status of species within a certain country or region. It is based on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, an inventory of the conservation status of species on a global scale. Regional Red Lists assess the risk of extinction to species within a political management unit and therefore may feed directly into national and regional planning. This project is coordinated by the Zoological Society of London, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and partners in national governments, universities and organizations throughout the world.
