Ascendos Rail Leasing S.à r.l., formerly CBRail, was a European rolling stock leasing company based in Luxembourg. Its business activities were focused on Continental Europe, and had offices in Luxembourg, Germany and the United Kingdom. It was formed as a subsidiary of the British rail leasing company Porterbrook to handle its European operations; during December 2004, its purchase by a joint venture between Babcock & Brown and Bank of Scotland Corporate Europe was announced. Throughout the rest of the decade, the company formed multiple deals to expand its inventory of rolling stock. By June 2008, the company had 118 locomotives, 785 freight wagons and 103 passenger vehicles either on lease or under construction. At the start of 2010, the company rebranded itself as Ascendos Rail Leasing, after being unable to adopt its preferred name of Eurorail. In June 2016, it was announced that Beacon Rail Leasing, a competing Pan-European rolling stock lessor, was in the process of acquiring Ascendos Rail Leasing. The portfolio of the combined companies comprised 225 locomotives and over 1,000 freight wagons on lease across various European nations. The Ascendos Rail Leasing name ceased to be used following the company's integration into Beacon.
