Als 6-Punkte-Spiel bezeichnet man ein geflügeltes Wort in Mannschaftssportarten, bei denen für einen Sieg drei Punkte vergeben werden. Insbesondere in der Fußballberichterstattung findet sich der Ausdruck häufig. Es handelt sich hierbei um ein Meisterschaftsspiel, bei dem zwei Mannschaften mit ähnlichem Punktestand aufeinandertreffen. Tatsächlich bekommt auch in einem 6-Punkte-Spiel der Sieger nur drei Punkte. Im Österreichischen spricht man wegen des hohen „Ernteertrags“ auch von einer Schnittpartie. In a "two points for a win" league, the corresponding term is "four-pointer".
