Simó Ballester (Manacor ?, Palma de Mallorca 1457), nicknamed Simó Tort, was a leading figure in the social conflicts in Mallorca between the peasants and the privileged people of the city of Palma. He was a peasant and, according to the historian , he is considered to be one of the principal leaders of the riots, along with Jaume Nicolau and Bartomeu Moner. In July 1450 he participated in the first siege of the city, as a head of an army of 2000 peasants. At the beginning of 1451 he negotiated with the governor, but without agreement. In April, the city was besieged a second time. Simó Ballester àlies Tort (Manacor ??? - Palma 1457) va ser un dels cabdills de la Revolta Forana mallorquina (1450-1453). Era pagès i fill del majoral de Son Pere Andreu. Juntament amb i en va ser un dels homes clau, i dels més radicals de la revolta. El juliol del 1450 va participar en el primer setge de la ciutat de Mallorca, com a cap d'un exèrcit de 2.000 pagesos.A principi de 1451 va fer negociacions a Manacor amb el governador , que hi havia anat expressament, però les negociacions fracassaren i a l'abril del 1451 es produí el segon setge de ciutat. Fou cabdill de les tropes foranes contra 900 pagesos lleials al governador, comandats pel lloctinent Jaume Cadell. Després d'un tercer setge al maig de 1451 el rei Alfons el Magnànim cedí a les pressions dels privilegiats i es decidí a intervenir amb molta duresa cap als forans. El rei, a l'agost de 1452, envià un exèrcit de mercenaris italians (saccomani), del qual era Capità General el virrei de Sardenya , que el derrotà a la batalla del Rafal Garcés, entre Inca i Sencelles. El 1456 se n'anà a Menorca, d'on fou extradit. El 1457 va ser executat i el seu cos arrossegat i esquarterat. After a third siege in May, King Alfons V decided to intervene, and in August 1452 he sent an army that defeated the insurrectionists in the battle of Rafal Garcés. In 1456 he went to Menorca.
