赤絵（あかえ）とは明治時代に摺られた浮世絵版画の一種。 An aka-e (赤絵 "red picture") is a type of ukiyo-e that is printed entirely or predominantly in red. Aka-e were said to be talismans against smallpox, especially when they bore images of Shōki the demon queller. A woodblock print having a significant portion of the design entirely in red may also be considered to be an aka-e. Aka-e (赤絵 imagens vermelhas?) é uma vertente da arte ukiyo-e produzida completamente ou de forma dominante na cor vermelha. Era dito que trabalhos aka-e serviam de talismãs contra a varíola, especialmente quando retratavam , um dominador de demônios popular nas lendas da China. No Japão, qualquer tipo de xilogravura que tenha significante porção ou seja feita inteiramente em vermelho é considerada aka-e. Une aka-e ou « image en rouge » est un type d'image ukiyo-e entièrement ou en majeure partie imprimée en rouge. Les aka-e étaient supposés servir de talismans contre la variole, particulièrement lorsqu'étaient représentées des images de Shōki le dompteur de démons. Une estampe ayant une partie importante de son dessin entièrement en rouge peut aussi être considérée comme un aka-e. D'ailleurs, l’estampe de Yokohama (ou Yokohama ukiyo-e ou Yokohama-e, 1859-1880) est également appelée aka-e car son impression utilise pour la première fois au Japon un colorant rouge synthétique importé d’Europe.
