| - Zoubeir Beya (or Baya) (born May 15, 1971 in M'saken is a football player, with a distinguished career as one of Tunisia's most accomplished soccer exports. Baya, an attacking midfielder, displayed considerable skill and enterprise on the international scene, and he provided the North African nation with vast international experience. Twice named Tunisian Footballer of the Year, Baya suited up for his country at the 1998 World Cup in France and at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He was also a key member of Tunisian sides that competed at the 1998, 2000 and 2002 African Nations Cup finals. He made his international swansong at the 2002 World Cup, retiring shortly afterwards. Baya began his soccer career at Etoile de Sahel, helping the Tunisian club win the African Cup Winners' Cup. He made his debut for Tunisia on September 4, 1994 against Guinea-Bissau where he scored his first international goal. Over the past eight years, he has become an integral player for his country, earning 81 caps and scoring 18 goals for his country. His hard work at Etoile de Sahel did not go unnoticed, as Bundesliga club SC Freiburg signed him to a contract in 1997. In four seasons in Germany, Baya established himself as a star player and a regular starter, scoring 21 goals.In 2001, Baya was on the move again, this time venturing to Turkey after signing with Besiktas. Baya was instrumental in helping Tunisia qualify for its second consecutive World Cup finals. He started in all eight games during the qualification round and scored six goals, finishing as his country's top goal scorer and one of the bright spots on a team wracked by inconsistency in the previous year. After the 2002 FIFA World Cup he returned to Etoile de Sahel to play out the rest of his playing career. After completing two seasons with Etoile du Sahel he returned to home club CS Msaken for a season in the tunisian second division before retiring. (en)
- Zoubaier Baya (زبير بية), né le 15 mai 1971 à M'saken, est un ancien footballeur tunisien évoluant au poste de milieu offensif. Il mesure 1,76 m pour un poids de 70 kg. Il connaît sa première sélection nationale le 16 décembre 1994, contre l'Algérie, lors d'un match amical. Durant sa carrière, il dispute 71 matchs avec celle-ci, marquant 16 buts dont deux de la tête.Élu par deux fois meilleur footballeur de Tunisie en 1995 — alors que son club de l'Étoile sportive du Sahel remporte la Coupe de la CAF — et 1996 alors que ce même club remporte la Coupe de Tunisie, l'ESS remporte terme de la saison suivante, 1996-1997, le championnat de Tunisie. Lors de son passage au SC Fribourg, il devient le premier arabe à devenir capitaine d'une équipe disputant la Bundesliga. Le 16 août 2000, il fait partie de la sélection des FIFA World Stars contre l'équipe de France (championne du monde à l'époque). Lors de son retour à l'Étoile sportive du Sahel, son club remporte la Coupe d'Afrique des vainqueurs de coupe en 2003. Revenu dans son club d'origine, le Croissant sportif de M'saken, il participe à la double ascension de ce dernier de la Ligue IV à la Ligue II.Il travaille actuellement en tant que consultant pour plusieurs médias : Jawhara FM, Tunisie 7, MBC, ART et Al Jazeera Children. - Zoubaier Baya (* 15. Mai 1971 in M'saken) ist ein ehemaliger tunesischer Profi-Fußballspieler. In 78 Länderspielen im Trikot der tunesischen Fußballnationalmannschaft erzielte Baya 16 Tore. Bayas Talent wurde bereits frühzeitig erkannt. In seinem Geburtsort M'saken kam er das erste Mal mit einem Fußball in Kontakt und wechselte von hier zu Étoile Sportive du Sahel in Sousse. Dort war er die zentrale Persönlichkeit im Mittelfeld. Hatte sein Verein bis dahin meist im Schatten der Hauptstadtclubs aus Tunis gestanden, so gewann er 1997 mit seinem Team erstmals die Landesmeisterschaft. Kurz danach folgte der Wechsel in die deutsche Bundesliga. Für den SC Freiburg absolvierte der Mittelfeldspieler von 1997 bis 2001 insgesamt 85 Bundesliga-Spiele, sowie 29 Spiele in der 2. Bundesliga (6 Tore). Danach spielte er für den türkischen Erstligisten Beşiktaş Istanbul, ehe er zu Étoile Sportive du Sahel zurückkehrte. Am 16. August 2000 spielte Zoubaier Baya in der Weltauswahl gegen den damaligen amtierenden Weltmeister Frankreich. (de)
