Zinaida Greceanîi (born February 7 1956) is a Moldovan politician. She is a member of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova and has been the Prime Minister of Moldova since 31 March 2008. She is Moldova's first female Prime Minister and is the second female Communist head of government in Europe, the first having been Premier Milka Planinc of Yugoslavia. Greceanîi was born in Tomsk Region of the Russian Federation.

She was Deputy Minister of Finances from 2000 to 2001 and First Deputy Minister of Finances from 2001 to 2002. President Vladimir Voronin appointed her as Interim Minister of Finances on February 8 2002 and then appointed her as Minister of Finances on February 26 2002. After serving as Finance Minister for more than three years, she was appointed by Voronin as First Deputy Prime Minister on October 10 2005. Following the resignation of Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev on March 19 2008, President Vladimir Voronin nominated Greceanîi as Prime Minister. Her Cabinet was approved by Parliament on March 31; it received 56 votes in favor out of the 101 members of Parliament. According to Greceanîi, the immediate focus of her Cabinet would on "media freedom, an active dialogue with civil society and the independence of justice". Greceanîi is married and has two children. Greceanîi remporte l'élection municipale de Chişinău en juillet 2005 avec 50,15% des voix au premier tour et 87,78% au second tour. L'élection n'est pas validée par la commission électorale car moins d'un-tiers des électeurs se sont prononcés.Le 19 mars, Vasile Tarlev présente sa démission du poste de premier ministre qu'il occupait depuis avril 2001. Zinaida Greceanîis Eltern wurden aus Bessarabien nach Sibirien deportiert, wo sie geboren wurde. Ende der 1960er Jahre konnte die Familie in die Heimat zurückkehren. Greceanîi absolvierte hier nach ihrer Schulausbildung ein wirtschaftswissenschaftliches Studium am finanz-ökonomischen Technikum und an der Staatlichen Moldawischen Universität in Chişinău. Von 1974 bis 1994 war sie in der Kreisverwaltung von Briceni tätig. Ab 1994 hatte sie verschiedene Posten im moldauischen Finanzministerium inne. 2002 wurde sie Finanzministerin und blieb in diesem Amt bis sie 2005 zur Ersten Vize-Premierministerin Moldawiens ernannt wurde. Unmittelbar nach dem überraschenden Rücktritt des bisherigen Regierungschefs Vasile Tarlev schlug Staatspräsident Vladimir Voronin sie am 20. März 2008 als neue Premierministerin vor. Am darauffolgenden Tag wurde sie vom Parlament, in dem ihre Kommunistischen Partei Moldawiens über die absolute Mandatsmehrheit verfügt, ins Amt gewählt.
