The Zig-Zag Girl illusion is a magic trick akin to the more famous sawing a woman in half illusion. In the Zig-Zag illusion, a magician divides his or her assistant into thirds, only to have the assistant emerge from the illusion at the end of the performance completely unharmed. Since its invention in the mid 1960s by magician Robert Harbin, it has been hailed as one of the greatest illusions ever invented due to both the apparent impossibility of the trick, and the fact that unlike many illusions it can be performed surrounded by spectators and withstand the close scrutiny of audience members.

  • W triku Zig Zag asystent iluzjonisty wchodzi do specjalnego pudła. Pudło jest podzielone na trzy części. W górnej części znajduje się głowa asystenta, w środkowej dłoń, a w dolnej stopa. Pomiędzy części pudła iluzjonista wkłada ostrza. Następnie środkowa część pudła jest przesuwana w lewo (lub w prawo). Grafika przedstawiająca iluzję Inny wariant pokazu iluzji Asystent iluzjonisty wchodzi do pudła i jest dobrze widoczny dla widzów. Iluzjonista zakrywa środkową część konstrukcji. Po wyciągnięciu zasłony środkowa część asystenta znika. Trik był zaprezentowany m.in. przez Davida Copperfielda. Opis wykonania iluzji Copperfielda Iluzjonista wsuwając zasłonę do konstrukcji jednocześnie włożył do niej lustro. Ponieważ ściany pomieszczenia, w którym odbywa się pokaz, są pomalowane na jednolity kolor, widz odnosi wrażenie, iż środkowa część asystenta zniknęła. Ręka, którą widać "za" asystentem, jest tak naprawdę odbiciem dłoni przed lustrem. (pl)
  • Zig-Zag (engl. Zick-Zack) bezeichnet eine klassische, von Bühnenmagiern vorgeführte Illusion. Eine Person betritt einen Kasten, der aus drei Teilen besteht. Die Türen werden geschlossen. Zwischen die drei Teile werden Klingen geschoben. Dann wird der mittlere Teil zur Seite geschoben. Aus dem zur Seite geschobenen Mittelteil winkt eine Hand, aus dem unteren Teil schaut ein Fuß heraus. Nachdem das Mittelteil wieder zurückgeschoben und die Klingen entfernt wurden, entsteigt die Person wieder unversehrt dem Kasten. Die Zig-Zag-Illusion wurde 1953 von Robert Harbin erfunden. (de)
