- Die Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) ist ein Fragebogen zur Fremdbeurteilung der Ausprägung manischer Symptome. Der Fragebogen wurde von Young und Kollegen im Jahr 1978 entwickelt. Er umfasst 11 Fragen, die von einem in der Beurteilung psychischer Störungen erfahrenen Untersucher beantwortet werden sollen. Bei jeder Frage können Werte zwischen 0 und 4 Punkten vergeben werden. Vier der elf Fragen werden doppelt gewertet, so dass in der Summe maximal 60 Punkte vergeben werden können. Punktwerte von 20 oder mehr werden als Hinweis auf eine manische Symptomatik gewertet. Der Fragebogen gilt als Goldstandard bei der Erfassung manischer Symptome und wird bei der Beurteilung der Wirkung antimanischer Medikamente eingesetzt. Der Fragebogen wird in der Leitlinie zur Diagnostik und Therapie bipolarer Störungen erwähnt. Es liegt eine validierte deutschsprachige Übersetzung vor. (de)
- The Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS), developed by Vincent E Ziegler and popularised by Robert Young, is an eleven-item multiple choice diagnostic questionnaire which psychiatrists use to measure the presence and severity of mania and associated symptoms. The scale was originally developed for use in the evaluation of adult patients with bipolar disorder, but has since been adapted for use in pediatric patients. The scale is widely used by clinicians and researchers in the diagnosis, evaluation, and quantification of manic symptomology. A similar scale was later developed to allow clinicians to interview parents about their children's symptoms, in order to ascertain a better diagnosis of mania in children. This parent version (P-YMRS) can be completed by a parent or a teacher to determine whether a child should receive further evaluation from a psychologist or psychiatrist. Clinical studies have demonstrated the reliability and validity of the parent version of the scale, which has been found to provide “clinically meaningful information about mood disorders in youth." The P-YMRS does succeed in identifying most cases of childhood bipolar disorder, but it has an extremely high false positive rate. (en)

A escala foi originalmente desenvolvida para uso na avaliação de pacientes adultos com transtorno bipolar, mas desde então foi adaptada para uso em pacientes pediátricos . A escala é amplamente utilizada por clínicos e pesquisadores na avaliação, diagnóstico e quantificação da sintomatologia maníaca. Uma escala semelhante foi desenvolvida posteriormente para permitir que os médicos entrevistassem os pais sobre os sintomas de seus filhos, a fim de determinar um melhor diagnóstico de mania em crianças. Esta versão para os pais (P-YMRS) pode ser preenchida por um pai ou professor para determinar se a criança deve receber avaliação adicional de um psicólogo ou psiquiatra.
