XMODS are 1:28 scale electric radio-controlled cars. The cars' primary marketing focus is on customization, and they are available in a variety of body styles and types traditionally favored by tuners. Fall 2005 saw the introduction of a new model line dubbed "Evolution" which also features a line of trucks. The cars are distributed by RadioShack in the United States, by Hobby Products International (HPI Racing) in Japan and by Carson Modellsport in Europe.

  • Xmods sind funkferngesteuerte Modellautos („RC-Modelle“), die vor allem für Bastler und Einsteiger gedacht sind. Im Herbst 2003 produzierte das Elektronikunternehmen RadioShack die ersten Xmods. Der Bestand an erhältlichen Karosserien erhöhte sich von da an beständig. Im Herbst 2005 verbesserte RadioShack seine Chassis und ersetzte die Generation1-Modelle durch die neuen Evolution-Modelle. Das Chassis der Evos ist komplett neu, also sind die Tuning-Kits bis auf die Felgen- und Reifensets nicht kompatibel. Eine besondere Neuerung der Xmods Serie sind die auf den Evos basierenden Truckin's, die für Geländefahrten ausgelegt sind. Auch hier kann man die Tuning-Kits, bis auf die Felgen- und Reifensets, sowie den Stage2-Motor der Evos nicht beliebig unter den einzelnen Serien austauschen. Die Konkurrenzmodelle zu den Xmods sind die Mini-Zs (auch Zettis genannt). Sie werden von der Firma Kyosho produziert und sind teurer, aber dafür auch qualitativ besser, als die Xmods. Leider kann man bei den Mini-Zs nicht soviel modifizieren, wie bei den Xmods, das wird aber durch die bessere Straßenlage und Kontrolle ausgeglichen. (de)
