- Der Holzturm in Mainz ist ein mittelalterlicher Stadtturm, dessen heutiges gotisches Erscheinungsbild aus dem beginnenden 15. Jahrhundert stammt. Namensgebend für das Gebäude war der im direkten Umfeld am Rhein liegende Holzstapelplatz der Stadt Mainz. Zusammen mit dem Eisenturm und dem Alexanderturm ist er einer der drei heute noch existierenden Stadttürme der Mainzer Stadtmauer. Der Holzturm diente – ebenso wie der Eisenturm – im Rahmen der Stadtbefestigung als Wachturm und Stadttor und später als Gefängnis. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde die Bedachung zerstört und 1961 zur 2000-Jahr-Feier der Stadt originalgetreu rekonstruiert. Heute beherbergt der Holzturm verschiedene Initiativen und Vereine. (de)

Construit en 1366 mais n'ayant pris son apparence actuelle qu'au XVe siècle, le bâtiment fut jusqu'au XXe siècle un octroi qui tirait son nom de sa proximité avec le marché au bois. Avec la Tour du Fer et la Tour d'Alexandre, elle constitue l'une des trois tours des remparts de Mayence qui subsistent aujourd'hui. (fr)
- The Wood Tower (German: Holzturm) is a mediaeval tower in Mainz, Germany, with the Iron Tower and the one of three remaining towers from the city walls. Its current Gothic appearance dates to the early 15th century. It is so named because wood used to be piled next to it on the bank of the Rhine. Like the Iron Tower, the Wood Tower was used as a watchtower and gate-tower and later as a gaol. It was badly damaged in World War II and accurately reconstructed in 1961 for the two-thousandth anniversary of the city. It currently houses various organisations and clubs. (en)
