Warum wir polarisiert sind) ist ein Sachbuch des amerikanischen Journalisten Ezra Klein und erschien am 28. Januar 2020 bei Avid Reader Press in New York. In der deutschen Übersetzung von Katrin Harlaß wurde es am 7. Oktober 2020 bei Hoffmann und Campe in Hamburg veröffentlicht. Klein analysiert die Polarisierung und zunehmende Dysfunktionalität im politischen System der Vereinigten Staaten und bespricht vor allem die zunehmende Spaltung zwischen Demokraten und Republikanern. In der deutschen Presse erhielt das Buch überwiegend positive Kritiken, unter anderem in der Süddeutschen Zeitung und in der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung. Die US-amerikanische Presse kam zu einem gemischten Urteil; vor allem eher konservative Medien nahmen kritisch Stellung zu Kleins Analyse. (de)
- Why We're Polarized is a 2020 non-fiction book by American journalist Ezra Klein, in which the author analyzes political polarization in the United States. Focusing in particular on the growing polarization between the major political parties in the United States (the Democratic Party and the Republican Party), the author argues that a combination of good intentions gone wrong, such as dealing with an arguably more unjust political consensus maintained at the expense of minorities, and inherent glitches in the institutional design of the country's federal government have caused widespread social problems. Opinion on the book is polarized, with positive reviews in The New York Times and Foreign Affairs, mostly positive but somewhat critical reviews in The Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, and Kirkus Reviews, mixed reviews in The New Yorker, The New Republic, Dissent, and Jacobin, and mostly negative reviews in The Wall Street Journal, Commentary, and The Outline.
