- La Hora Legal de Venezuela (HLV) es un servicio oficial del Estado venezolano que establece la hora local del país administrado por el Servicio de Hidrografía y Navegación, cuya sede se encuentra en Maiquetía, estado La Guaira y cuyas instalaciones se encuentran el Observatorio Naval Cagigal en Caracas. Actualmente, se guía por el huso horario UTC−4, y podía ser consultado de manera telefónica marcando el número 119 desde teléfonos fijos en el territorio nacional o el 0212-4818666 extensión 8027 y por las líneas de la empresa estatal Movilnet mediante el teléfono *119. Sin embargo, ninguno de esos servicios hoy se encuentra activo por razones que no se han comunicado oficialmente y la hora hoy solo se puede consultar vía Internet. (es)

The time is commonly called Venezuelan Standard Time (VET), and legally referred to as Hora Legal de Venezuela (HLV) or Venezuela's Legal Time. The HLV is administered by the Navigation and Hydrography Service, in the Cagigal Naval Observatory, Caracas. The official time zone of Venezuela is determined by meridian 60° west of Greenwich, UK. UTC−04:30 was formerly the official time zone in Venezuela from 1912 to 1965, when the government changed it in order to adopt meridian 60° UTC−04:00, which passes through Punta de Playa, Delta Amacuro State. It was changed again to UTC−04:30 from 2007 to 2016. (en)
