- La Resolució 1148 del Consell de Seguretat de les Nacions Unides, adoptada per unanimitat el 26 de gener de 1998 després de recordar totes les resolucions anteriors sobre el Sàhara Occidental, particularment Resolució 1133 (1997), el Consell va aprovar el desplegament d'una unitat d'enginyeria per donar suport al desplegament de la Missió de Nacions Unides pel Referèndum al Sàhara Occidental (MINURSO). La resolució va començar acollint amb beneplàcit el nomenament de Charles Dunbar, el Representant Especial del Secretari General Kofi Annan. El secretari general havia presentat plans que detallaven l'enfortiment de la MINURSO, i el Consell va acollir amb beneplàcit la represa de la identificació dels votants elegibles. Va aprovar el desplegament d'una unitat d'enginyeria per ajudar en activitats de desminatge i personal administratiu addicional per donar suport al desplegament de personal militar. S'instal·larien tropes addicionals quan es considerés necessari. Tant el govern marroquí com el Front Polisario van ser convocats a cooperar en la implementació del i en el procés d'identificació en forma oportuna. (ca)
- قرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة رقم 1148، المتخذ بالإجماع في 26 كانون الثاني / يناير 1998، بعد التذكير بجميع القرارات السابقة بشأن الصحراء الغربية، ولا سيما القرار 1133 (1997)، وافق المجلس على نشر وحدة هندسية لدعم نشر بعثة الأمم المتحدة الاستفتاء في الصحراء الغربية. بدأ القرار بالترحيب بتعيين تشارلز دنبار، الممثل الخاص للأمين العام كوفي عنان. وقد قدم الأمين العام خططاً توضح بالتفصيل تعزيز بعثة الأمم المتحدة للاستفتاء في الصحراء الغربية، ورحب المجلس باستئناف تحديد هوية الناخبين المؤهلين. ووافق على نشر وحدة هندسية للمساعدة في أنشطة إزالة الألغام وموظفين إداريين إضافيين لدعم نشر الأفراد العسكريين. سيتم نشر قوات إضافية عندما تعتبر ضرورية. تمت دعوة كل من الحكومة المغربية وجبهة البوليساريو للتعاون في تنفيذ خطة التسوية وعملية تحديد الهوية في الوقت المناسب. - United Nations Security Council resolution 1148, adopted unanimously on 26 January 1998, after recalling all previous resolutions on the Western Sahara, particularly Resolution 1133 (1997), the Council approved the deployment of an engineering unit to support the deployment of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). The resolution began by welcoming the appointment of Charles Dunbar, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General Kofi Annan. The Secretary-General had submitted plans detailing the strengthening of MINURSO, and the Council welcomed the resumption of identification of eligible voters. It approved the deployment of an engineering unit to assist in demining activities and of additional administrative staff to support the deployment of military personnel. Additional troops would be deployed when it was considered necessary. Both the Moroccan government and the Polisario Front were called upon to co-operate in the implementation of the Settlement Plan and the identification process in a timely manner. (en)
