The Torres Strait Islands are a group of at least 274 small islands in the Torres Strait between Queensland, Australia and Papua New Guinea. This is a list of the named islands and island groups in the Torres Strait. In addition there are unnamed islands and named and unnamed rocks. Almost all of the islands in the Torres Strait are part of Australia; consequently all entries in this table are in Australia unless noted as being in Papua New Guinea.

Die überwiegende Anzahl der Inseln gehört politisch zum australischen Bundesstaat Queensland. Die Inseln entlang der Südküste von Papua-Neuguinea gehören zur Westprovinz. Die wichtigste dieser Inseln ist Daru Island, auf der sich die gleichnamige Hauptstadt der Westprovinz von Papua-Neuguinea befindet. Nur 21 der über 270 Torres-Strait-Inseln sind bewohnt, davon 19 australische Inseln und die zu Papua-Neuguinea gehörigen Inseln Daru und Parama. Die 19 bewohnten australischen Inseln entsprechen 18 communities. Eine community entspricht einer bewohnten Insel, mit zwei Ausnahmen: * Moa Island gliedert sich in zwei communities (Kubin und St. Pauls) * Prince of Wales Island, Friday Island und Packe Island bilden zusammen die community Murralag Die nach Wochentagen benannten Inseln Wednesday Island (östlich davon die beiden kleinen Tuesday Islets), Thursday Island und Friday Island erhielten ihre westlichen Namen von William Bligh, der in der ersten Juniwoche 1789 nach der Meuterei auf der Bounty die Torresstraße Richtung Westen (Kupang) durchquerte und dabei auf diese einzelnen größeren Inseln an den jeweiligen Wochentagen stieß (Dienstag, 2. Juni bis Freitag, 5. Juni 1789). Anhand der Lage dieser Inseln lässt sich die Route von Blighs Boot verfolgen. Nach den übrigen Tagen der Woche sind keine Inseln benannt, da Bligh am Montag die Torres Strait Islands noch nicht erreicht hatte und am Samstag darauf schon durchfahren hatte.
