- Třída Fargo byla třída lehkých křižníků amerického námořnictva z období druhé světové války. Byla to modifikace lehkých křižníků třídy Cleveland. Tato plavidla se lišila především kompaktnější nástavbou s jedním komínem (stejně se lišily těžké křižníky třídy Oregon City od původní třídy Baltimore). Křižníky byly ve službě v letech 1945–1950. Nebyly bojově nasazeny. (cs)

Fue una versión modificada de la clase anterior Cleveland; la principal diferencia fue una superestructura más compacta y piramidal, intentando mejorar los arcos de fuego de las armas antiaéreas. El mismo tipo de modificación recibieron las clases Baltimore y de cruceros pesados. Los cambios se hicieron para reducir la inestabilidad de la clase de cruceros ligeros Cleveland, especialmente su tendencia a escorar peligrosamente. Las torretas de la batería principal se colocaron un pie por debajo y las garitas de las ametralladoras en las alas, de 5 pulgadas, gemelas montadas en los lados de la nave, fueron bajadas a la cubierta principal. Las antiaéreas medianas de 40 mm también fueron bajadas. En total, 13 barcos de la clase fueron proyectados pero solo se completaron dos, el y Huntington, el resto fueron cancelados en distintas fases de la construcción con el fin de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Fargo, la primera nave de la clase, fue botado el 25 de febrero de 1945, pero no fue puesto en servicio hasta el 9 de diciembre de 1945, poco después de que la guerra terminara. - The Fargo-class cruisers were a modified version of the Cleveland-class cruiser design; the main difference was a more compact pyramidal superstructure with single trunked funnel, intended to improve the arcs of fire of the anti-aircraft (AA) guns. The same type of modification differentiated the Baltimore and Oregon City classes of heavy cruisers, and to a lesser degree the Atlanta and Juneau classes of light cruisers. Changes were made in order to reduce the instability of the Cleveland-class light cruisers, especially their tendency to roll dangerously. The main battery turrets sat about a foot lower and the wing gunhouses (the 5 inch, twin gun mounts on the sides of the ship) were lowered to the main deck. The medium (40 mm) anti-aircraft mounts were also lowered. In all, 13 ships of the class were planned but only Fargo and Huntington were ever completed, the rest being cancelled at varying states of completion with the de-escalation and eventual end of World War II. Fargo, the lead ship of the class, was launched on 25 February 1945, but was not commissioned until 9 December 1945, four months after the war ended. Huntington was commissioned early in 1946. The two ships were decommissioned in 1949–1950, and never reactivated. (en)
