Turing ist ein Nachfolger der Programmiersprache , die bekannt für eine saubere Syntax und eine plattformunabhängige Semantik ist. Sie wird hauptsächlich in Schulen und Universitäten als Lernsprache eingesetzt. Es existieren noch zwei weitere Versionen von Turing, nämlich Object-Oriented Turing und Turing Plus. Im September 2001 wurde Object-Oriented Turing in Turing umbenannt. Das Original bekam dafür den Namen Classic Turing. Turing wird von Holt Software Associates Inc. in Versionen für Unix, Apple Macintosh und Microsoft Windows seit November 2008 als Freeware angeboten. (de)

It was designed in order to help students taking their first computer science course learn how to code. Turing is a descendant of Pascal, Euclid, and SP/k that features a clean syntax and precise machine-independent semantics. Turing 4.1.0 is the latest stable version of Turing. Turing 4.1.1 and Turing 4.1.2 does not allow stand alone (.EXE) files to be created and versions before Turing 4.1.0 have outdated syntax and outdated functions. (en)
