Traves is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 30 km northwest of Turin. Traves borders the following municipalities: Mezzenile, Pessinetto, Viù, and Germagnano. The commune is less ancient than others in the valley and the parish church was built only in the seventeenth century. The main activity of the village has been, for a long time, the exploitation of copper and nickel mines and its inhabitants were specialized in the production of nails.
