- Trabant sind eine isländische Electroclash-Musikgruppe, die 2001 ursprünglich als Duo von Þorvaldur Gröndal und Viðar H. Gíslason gegründet wurde, mittlerweile aber zum Quintett angewachsen ist. Ihr Debütalbum Moment of Truth erschien im Jahre 2001 und machte sie in Island populär. Drei Jahre später erschien ein Live-Album, das auf einer Party des isländischen Staatspräsidenten Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson in dessen Amtssitz in Bessastaðir aufgenommen wurde. Nachdem Nasty Boy ein erfolgreicher Club-Hit war, erreichten sie mit dem zweiten Studioalbum Emotional (2005) die Top Ten der isländischen Charts. (de)

Most of the music and words were written by Mihály Víg and János Vető, while minor contributions came from , Károly Hunyady, Gábor Lukin, and . The two main voices were visual artist and actress and Mihály Víg, occasionally , Mariann Urbán and Attila Grandpierre. Among other musicians were and of Európa Kiadó. Apart from a few film appearances the band seldom performed publicly and never worked in studio; they focused on writing songs and instantly recording them one by one under lo-tech domestic circumstances. Their texts are best described by the words enigmatic, intertextual, grotesque and absurd; their musical style does not fall into any of the known musical categories. (en)
