Townshend is the primary village and a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Townshend, Windham County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 199, compared to 1,291 in the entire town. The CDP is in north-central Windham County, in the south-central part of the town of Townshend. It sits in an elevated valley to the east of the West River, a southeast-flowing tributary of the Connecticut River. Mill Brook, a tributary of the West River, forms the eastern edge of the community. The community of Harmonyville borders the Townshend CDP to the south.
