- Le tombeau de la Reine Rouge est une chambre funéraire contenant probablement la dépouille de Ixik Tz'aka'ab Ajaw, également connue sous le nom d'Ahpo-Hel, qui était l'épouse de K'inich Janaab' Pakal Ier. Cette chambre funéraire se trouve dans les ruines de l'ancienne ville maya de Palenque, aujourd'hui dans le , dans l'État du Chiapas, dans le sud du Mexique. Le 11 avril 1994, alors qu'elle effectuait des exercices de fouilles, la jeune archéologue Fanny López Jiménez découvrit dans le Temple XIII de Palenque un soubassement, une porte et un couloir qui l'amenaient à trouver trois chambres, dans l'une d'elles elle trouverait le sarcophage de la Reine Rouge. Ses restes et son trousseau ont été retrouvés plus de 1300 ans après sa mort, lorsque l'archéologue Arnoldo González Cruz a découvert son squelette en 1994 à l'intérieur d'un sarcophage sculpté d'une seule pièce, dans une chambre funéraire. Le tombeau tire son nom du fait que les restes de la femme noble et les objets dans le sarcophage étaient recouverts de poudre de cinabre rouge vif lors de la découverte du tombeau. En 2021, après avoir parcouru plus de deux ans dans plusieurs musées mexicains, les objets funéraires de la souveraine sont exposés dans un pavillon aménagé en son honneur au musée du site Alberto Ruz Lhuiller, adjacent à la zone archéologique de Palenque, au Chiapas. - The Tomb of the Red Queen is a burial chamber containing the remains of a noblewoman, perhaps Lady , and two servants, located inside Temple XIII in the ruins of the ancient Maya city of Palenque, now the Palenque National Park, in the Chiapas state in southern Mexico. It has been dated to between 600 and 700 AD. The tomb was discovered in 1994 by the Mexican archeologist Fanny Lopez Jimenez after being commissioned to perform routine stabilization work on a set of temple stairs by the local Archaeologist Arnoldo Gonzalez Cruz. It takes its popular name from the fact that the remains of the noblewoman and the objects in the sarcophagus were covered with bright red cinnabar powder when the tomb was discovered. (en)
