Il est martyrisé à la suite des allégations frauduleuses de Titus Oates selon lesquelles il faisait partie du complot papiste visant à assassiner le roi Charles II d'Angleterre. Sa fête est célébrée le 9 mai. Né à Westmorland, en Angleterre, il entre au monastère bénédictin anglais de Saint-Grégoire à Douai (désormais hébergé à l'abbaye de Downside, Somerset) et prononce ses vœux de frère lai en 1660. He was martyred as a result of the fraudulent claims of Titus Oates that he was part of a plot to murder King Charles II. Born in Westmorland, England, Pickering entered the Benedictine Abbey of St. Gregory the Great at Douai in Somerset) and made his vows as in 1660. (en)
