- La Prière du para est le nom donné postérieurement à une prière écrite par André Zirnheld en 1938, alors qu'il était professeur de philosophie. Au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il s'engage chez les parachutistes des forces françaises libres et devient membre du Special Air Service. Il est le premier officier parachutiste français tué au combat. À sa mort en 1942, lors d'une opération commando en Afrique, ses compagnons découvrent dans ses affaires personnelles ce texte qui va devenir la prière du para. Le texte dans sa version chantée est créé en 1961 et adopté par l'école militaire interarmes puis par les troupes parachutistes de l'armée française, mais également des parachutistes brésiliens. (fr)

The Paratrooper's Prayer has been adopted by all French Metropolitan and Marine Infantry Paratrooper Units and Regiments except for the Portuguese Paratroopers.The Prayer appears before A. J. Quinnell's novel Man on Fire, the main protagonist of which is an ex-paratrooper in the Legion. This prayer also appears in Lt. Col. Dave Grossman's book, On Combat: The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and in Peace, Rogue Heroes by Ben Macintyre, and Call Sign Chaos: Learning to Lead by Jim Mattis. A Oração do Paraquedista foi adotada por todas as Unidades e Regimentos de Paraquedistas da Infantaria Metropolitana e da Marinha da França (exceto pelos paraquedistas da Legião Estrangeira Francesa, que têm o seu próprio poema), bem como pelas Tropas Paraquedistas de Portugal. Esta oração consta no romance de AJ Quinnell, Man on Fire, no qual o protagonista principal é um ex-paraquedista da Legião Francesa.
