- Star Wars Combine ist ein Online-Computerspiel vor dem Hintergrund der Star-Wars-Saga. Das Spiel ist seit 1998 online und versteht sich als MMORPG. In den ersten Jahren wurde ein eigenes Clientprogramm zum Download angeboten, seit 2004 ist das Spiel browserbasiert, womit es zur Gruppe der Browserspiele gehört. Dabei sind die Technologie, das Universum, in dem gespielt wird, sowie gewisse Grundkonstellationen den Filmen, Romanen und Computerspielen der Star-Wars-Serie entnommen, die handelnden Personen werden aber durchweg durch Spieler erschaffen und verkörpert und die Handlung kann von den Spielern weitgehend frei bestimmt werden. Es handelt sich bei der Star Wars Combine um ein Spiel, das von Fans ohne Lizenzierung durch LucasArts entwickelt, programmiert und geleitet wird. Das Spiel hat ca. 3500 aktive Mitspielern (bei ca. 40.000 registrierten Spielern). Die Teilnahme am Spiel ist für die Spieler kostenlos. Weitere vergleichbare nicht-kommerzielle Projekte, aber in deutschsprachiger Version, sind u. a., Star Wars HiddenEmpire und . - Star Wars Combine (SWC) is a real-time massively multiplayer online browser game, set in the Star Wars universe as a persistent world. It was released in December 1998 as a sort of continuation of a game that existed between the mid-90s and summer 1998 known as Star Wars Simulation. When the Sim Master disappeared suddenly - and the servers were shut down soon after - some players of that stranded community decided to create their own version of the game that evolved a lot through the years and took its own path. Combine is not licensed by LucasArts, but is permitted to use the setting. Star Wars Combine was ranked 88th in the Top 100 games of All-Time by PC Gamer in its March 2012 issue. The graphic interface of the game is a means to facilitate the meeting of the international community on the forums and IRC channels. Due to the nature of such role-playing based games, it is a commonly shared feeling to be lost after one's own character is created, and as a result of this help, suggestions, tips from others are often required to perform some of the basic actions available to a player. Rozgrywka prowadzona jest w oknie przeglądarki i nie wymaga instalowania żadnego programu. Świat Star Wars Combine obejmuje prawie 5 tysięcy planet i księżyców w 621 systemach. Gracze mogą wcielić się w postać dowolnej rasy i zawodu, należącą do jednej z wielu frakcji – Imperium, Rebelia, piraci, handlowcy itp. Gra umożliwia produkcję wyposażenia, takiego jak statki, pojazdy, broń, droidy i inne, a także prowadzenie pomiędzy graczami handlu. W Galaktyce Star Wars Combine nie znajdziemy klasycznych bohaterów Sagi Gwiezdnych wojen, takich jak Han Solo, Anakin, czy Luke Skywalker. Rezygnacja z tych postaci wiąże się z oddzieleniem i uniezależnieniem fabuły gry od fabuły filmów i przekazanie w ręce graczy niczym nie ograniczonej kontroli nad wszystkim wydarzeniami w galaktyce, łącznie z działaniami dwóch najpotężniejszych frakcji – Imperium i Rebelii, których przywódcy także odgrywani są przez graczy. Gra stworzona została przez fanów Gwiezdnych wojen w 1999 roku, obecnie (kwiecień 2008) jest ponad 4000 aktywnych graczy z całego świata. (pl)
