- Die Saga vom Eisvolk (norwegisch Sagaen om Isfolket; schwedisch Sagan om Isfolket) ist eine Romanserie von Margit Sandemo. Zwischen 1982 und 1989 erschienen 47 Bände auf Schwedisch und Norwegisch. Es handelt sich um eine Familiensaga mit phantastischen Elementen, die mittlerweile in alle nordischen und einige osteuropäische Sprachen übersetzt wurde. Seit Juni 2008 wird sie im monatlichen Rhythmus auf Englisch veröffentlicht. Ende der 1990er Jahre wurde der erste Versuch gestartet, die Serie auch auf dem deutschen Markt zu etablieren. Die in Norwegen gedruckten Bücher wurden vom BKH-Verlag über Versandhandel und an Kiosken vertrieben. Doch mit Band 9 wurde die Serie wieder eingestellt. Ab Juni 2007 wurde die Serie neu bei Blanvalet verlegt (und später auch als E-Book herausgebracht), dort aber mit Band 8 wieder eingestellt. (de)
- The Legend of the Ice People (in Swedish language Sagan om Isfolket) is a 47-volume story of a family bloodline, first published in 1982. The author of the series is Margit Sandemo. The novels are predominantly based in Scandinavia and focus on historical fact, but contain some fantastical elements. The first volume was released 1982, and the series became one of the best-selling series of novels in Scandinavia, with more than 39 million copies sold. The series was originally written in Swedish, but has been translated into over eight languages including Norwegian, Finnish, Polish, Czech, Icelandic, Russian, Hungarian and English. The book series is made in three parts where The legend of the ice people is part one. Part two is an equal/spin off series placed in the years between 1600 and 1700. It is also a prequel to book 31 The ferry man. (Swedish original title; Färjkarlen) Here we learn the background story of the mystical medallions that the characters, Benedikte and Sander finds. This second series is called Häxmästaren in Swedish and translates to The witch master or The warlock. The scenery throughout the second series is mostly placed on Icland, and in Norway, Sweden and Austria. It is made off 15 books and other connections to the ice people-books is the spirits and souls of mostly Sol and Tengel the good. They come in later on in the series to help the Islandic warlock and his family. The last part of the series is called Legenden om ljusets rike, which translates to The legend of the kingdom of light, or The legend of the lights kingdom. It is made of 20 books and merges the two series together. This is a sequel to both the series. It starts in the same moment and scene where The witch master ends in a cliffhanger. The story then flash forward to approximately 20–30 years after The legend of the ice people ends to the 1990s. We follow the characters from the last couple of The legend of the ice people books, as well as their families. Some of them are Marco, Ellen, Nathaniel, and Gabriel and their children which befriends the children of the Warlocks family. The third part of the series is a bit different. It leans more heavily to the fantasy genre than other books in the series, and it also have a bit of science fiction in them. It mostly take place inside the earth globe. There is a secret kingdom in the core where time goes 12 times slower than on the outside of the globe and where your physical body stop aging. The story has two major enemies. One is the main source of the black water that Tengel the evil from The legend of the ice people got his power from. The other is the pollution and the human societys destruction of the earth. Our heroes try to save the earth before it is to late and all important animals and plants go extinct. The series ends in the future in the year 2080. In the third series we also learn the true meaning of the mystical and magical medallions decorated with a sun, from The witch master series and book 31 The Ferry man in The legend of the ice people. There is also a heavy connection between book 18 in The lights kingdom with the original Swedish title Så djup en längtan, that translates to So deep a longing, and to book 17 in The legend of the ice people, Swedish title; Dödens trädgård, that translates in English to The death's garden or The reaper's garden. They both take place in the Ural mountains in Russia. Book 18 In the series third part, will give the reader new information that leads to some plot holes from book 17 in part one of the series to be filled in. Sandemo skrev böckerna på svenska, men de har sedan översatts till flera språk, bland annat norska. 2001 hade hennes böcker sålts i sex miljoner exemplar i Sverige och hon angavs då vara Sveriges mest lästa författare. Bokserien är en släktsaga som har sin början i mitten av 1500-talet och avslutas vid 1900-talets mitt. Släkten Isfolket, stammar från en man som kallas Tengel den onde och enligt legenden sålde han sin själ till Djävulen genom en häxbrygd, kokt på alla möjliga örter. Tengel den onde grävde ner kitteln, ingen vet var. Men det sägs att om man finner kitteln så bryts förbannelsen. Till följd därav drabbas ungefär en person i varje generation av det onda arvet, vilket oftast innebär speciella krafter, ett särpräglat utseende (vissa drabbade upplevs av omgivningen som monster medan andra anses enormt vackra) och ibland även ett ont sinnelag. Handlingen kretsar till stor del runt släktens kamp mot detta arv men även kring vardagen och universella problem som läsaren kan känna igen sig i.
