- Sh2-54 est une grande nébuleuse en émission visible dans la queue de la constellation du serpent. C'est une région H II étendue dans laquelle les phénomènes de formation d'étoiles sont actifs. À l'intérieur se trouvent un grand nombre de protoétoiles, certaines même de grande masse, et plusieurs sources infrarouges. A cette génération de jeunes étoiles s'ajoute une seconde, âgée d'environ 4 à 5 millions d'années, qui constitue le brillant amas ouvert NGC 6604. Sh2-54 fait partie d'un vaste système nébuleux qui comprend également la nébuleuse de l'Aigle et la nébuleuse Oméga à proximité, qui sont également liées à deux grandes associations OB, connues sous le nom de et . - Sh2-54 is an extended bright nebula in the constellation of Serpens. In its core there are many protostars and many infrared sources; some of these sources, like IRAS 18151−1208, are most probably very young high-mass stars. The older star population in this region has an average age of 4–5 million years, and its components are grouped in the open cluster NGC 6604. Sh2-54 belongs to an extended nebulosity that includes also the Eagle Nebula and the Omega Nebula. The young high-mass stars of this region constitute the Serpens OB1 and Serpens OB2 OB association. A questa generazione di giovani stelle se ne aggiunge una seconda, vecchia di circa 4-5 milioni di anni, che costituisce il brillante ammasso aperto NGC 6604. Sh2-54 fa parte di un vasto sistema nebuloso che comprende anche le vicine Nebulosa Aquila e Nebulosa Omega, cui sono legate anche due grandi associazioni OB, note come Serpens OB1 e Serpens OB2. - Sharpless 2-54 – obłok gazu oraz obszar H II znajdujący się w konstelacji Węża w odległości około 7000 lat świetlnych od Ziemi. Mgławica została skatalogowana w drugim wydaniu katalogu Sharplessa jako Sh 2-54. Słaby obłok gazu znany jako Sharpless 2-54 został zaobserwowany w latach 50. XX wieku przez Stewarta Sharplessa na zdjęciach National Geographic–Palomar Sky Atlas. Choć jest on powiązanych z gromadą gwiazd NGC 6604 odkrytą w roku w 1784 przez Williama Herschela jest na tyle słaby, że pozostawał nieznany przed Stewartem Sharplessem. Sharpless 2-54 wraz z Mgławicą Orzeł i Mgławicą Omega tworzy fragment wielkiego kompleksu gazów i pyłów, w którym powstają nowe gwiazdy. (pl)
