- Das Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) war das politische Sekretariat (der Regierung) für Öffentliche Sicherheit in Mexiko. Als Sekretariat der Regierung war es vergleichbar mit einem Ministerium auf oberster Regierungsebene eines Staates. Die Behörde war 2000 gegründet worden, und wurde per 3. Januar 2013 durch die ersetzt. Mexiko war einer der Staaten, in dem der Aufgabenbereich der Inneren Sicherheit durch ein eigenes Regierungsorgan der Ministerienebene wahrgenommen wird. Die üblichen anderen Aufgaben eines Innenministeriums vieler Regierungssysteme werden in Mexiko durch das Secretaría de Gobernación (SEGOB) wahrgenommen. Das SSP gliederte sich zuletzt in zwei Untersekretariate (Subsecretarías), eines für „Politische Kriminalität“ (Política Criminal) und eines für „Prävention und Bürgerbeteiligung“ (Prevención y Participación Ciudadana), sowie eine Abteilung für „Transparenz, Innovation und Qualität“ (Transparencia, Innovación y Calidad). - The Mexican Secretariat of Public Security or Secretariat of Public Safety, also known as Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Public Safety (Spanish: Secretaría de Seguridad Pública, SSP), was the federal ministry of the Mexican Executive Cabinet that aimed to preserve freedom, order, and public peace and safeguard the integrity and rights of the people. The Assistant Attorney General uses the Powers of the Union to prevent the commission of crimes, develop public security policies of the Federal Executive, propose policies on crime, administer the federal prison system, and administer justice to juvenile offenders based on the Organic Law of the Federal Public Administration and other federal laws, regulations, decrees, agreements, and orders of the President of the Republic. It had its headquarters in Álvaro Obregón, Mexico City. President Enrique Peña Nieto announced on November 15, 2012, that he will eliminate the Secretariat of Public Security, as part of his planned administrative reforms, after he takes office. It was dissolved on January 3, 2013, and was replaced by the "National Security Commission" (Spanish: Comision Nacional de Seguridad), an internal organ of the Secretariat of the Interior as seen on its website. Coinciding with new president Andrés Manuel López Obrador taking office, a new Secretariat of Security and Civilian Protection was established in 2018. (en)
