- Mary’s Meals je charitativní nevládní nízkonákladová organizace zabývající se programy školního stravování v převážně rozvojových zemích. Vznikla v roce 2002 z již existující organizace SIR (Scottish International Relief) fungující od roku 1992. Pracuje v devatenácti, povětšinou rozvojových, zemích a každý den zajišťuje školní jídlo pro 1 838 859 dětí. Programy jsou nejrozšířenější v Malawi (přes milion dětí), kde třetina dětí školního věku dostává jídla od Mary’s Meals . (cs)
- Mary’s Meals ist eine schottische Kinderhilfsorganisation, die 2002 aus der 1992 gegründeten Scottish International Relief (SIR) entstand. Sie stellt an jedem Schultag Mahlzeiten für über 2 Millionen Kinder in Bildungseinrichtungen bereit und operiert derzeit in 20 Ländern Afrikas, Asiens, Lateinamerikas, Osteuropas und der Karibik. Die meisten Kinder werden allerdings in Malawi versorgt, wo etwa einem Drittel der Grundschulkinder Brei von Mary’s Meals angeboten wird. Es handelt sich bei Mary’s Meals um eine nichtstaatliche, gemeinnützige Organisation, die Schwesterorganisationen in Australien, Belgien, Bosnien-Herzegowina, Deutschland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Irland, Italien, Kanada, Kroatien, den Niederlanden, Österreich, in der Schweiz, in Spanien, Tschechien und den USA hat. - Mary's Meals, formerly known as Scottish International Relief (SIR), is a registered charity which sets up school feeding programmes in some of the world's poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education. It was founded in 2002 and has grown from its first feeding operation of 200 children in Malawi, to a worldwide campaign, providing free school meals in hundreds of schools and feeding more than one million children daily. Mary's Meals is named after Mary, the mother of Jesus, by its founders, who were inspired by their Catholic faith, although the charity is not a Catholic organisation. (en)
