- Mirin (auch: Merinus, Merin) war ein später heiliggesprochener irischer Mönch und Missionar des 6./7. Jahrhunderts. Bevor er zur Missionierung nach Schottland übersiedelte war er Prior von Bangor Abbey. Mirin stammte aus Irland, kam aber, ähnlich wie andere irische Geistliche (z. B. Columban von Iona), infolge der engen kirchlichen Bindungen der Insel zu Schottland, nach Schottland, wo er Anfang des 7. Jahrhunderts das Kloster Paisley gründete. Dort starb er (um 620?), woraufhin sich der Ort zu einem Wallfahrtsort entwickelte. Festtag des Heiligen ist der 15. September. Mirin ist unter anderem Patron des römisch-katholischen Bistums Paisley. (de)

- Saint Mirin was born in 565, is also known as Mirren of Benchor (now called Bangor), Merinus, Merryn and Meadhrán. The patron saint of the town and Roman Catholic diocese of Paisley, Scotland, he was the founder of a religious community which grew to become Paisley Abbey. The shrine of this saint in the abbey became a centre of pilgrimage. A contemporary of the better known St Columba of Iona and disciple of Saint Comgall, he was prior of Bangor Abbey in County Down, Ireland before making his missionary voyage to Scotland. He is venerated in both Ireland and Scotland and in the Orthodox tradition. (en)
