- L'évêque Christophe de Nilopolis (nom séculier Ruben Spartas Mukasa, né Reuben Mukasa Mugimba Sobanja ; 1899 - 4 juin 1982) est un réformateur religieux du début du XXe siècle en Ouganda. Il fait partie des King's African Rifles de l'armée britannique, mais en vient à penser qu'il faut mettre fin à la domination coloniale en Afrique et que cela doit être obtenu par un rajeunissement religieux avec des églises chrétiennes indépendantes. Mukasa crée l'Association progressiste africaine, l'Armée chrétienne pour le salut de l'Afrique et il forme également une branche de l'Église orthodoxe africaine en Ouganda. Cela s'est produit plus tard en 1932 lorsque Mukasa est ordonné prêtre par un évêque sous Marcus Garvey. Cependant, Mukasa apprend plus tard que l'Église orthodoxe africaine n'est pas unie à l'Église orthodoxe éthiopienne et à l'Église copte. Mukasa se sépare donc de son Église et se rend à Alexandrie où il est ordonné par le patriarche Christophe II. Le patriarche Christophe II d'Alexandrie est le patriarche d'Alexandrie plaçant ainsi Mukasa dans la communion de l'Église orthodoxe, une tradition religieuse différente de celle des Églises des trois conciles dont font partie les Églises copte et éthiopienne. - Bishop Christopher (secular name Ruben Spartas Mukasa, born Reuben Mukasa Mugimba Sobanja; 1899 – 4 June 1982) was an early-20th-century religious reformer in Uganda. He had been part of the King's African Rifles of the British Army, but came to feel that there needed to be an end to colonial rule in Africa and that this must be obtained through a religious rejuvenation with independent Christian Churches. Mukasa formed the , the and he also formed a branch of the African Orthodox Church in Uganda. That later came about in 1932 when Mukasa was ordained a priest by a bishop under Marcus Garvey. However Mukasa later learned that the African Orthodox Church was not in line with the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and the Coptic Orthodox Church. Mukasa split with the western Church and went to Alexandria where he was ordained by Patriarch Christophoros II. Patriarch Christophoros was the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria thus putting Mukasa into the Eastern Orthodox group present mainly in Εastern Europe, a different religious tradition from the Oriental Orthodox Church that the Coptic and Ethiopian Churches are part of.
