- رغم أن العديد من البلدان الأخرى تمتلك برامج أسلحة كيميائية وبيولوجية، كانت رودسيا من البلدان القليلة المعروفة باستخدام العوامل الحيوية والكيميائية. جرى استخدام الأسلحة الكيميائية والبيولوجية الرودسية في نهاية نضال رودسيا المطول ضد التمرد القومي الأفريقي المتنامي في أواخر سبعينيات القرن العشرين. نشأ هذا الجهد المتعلق بالأسلحة الكيميائية والبيولوجية الرودسية نتيجة لتدهور الحالة الأمنية في أعقاب استقلال موزامبيق عن الحكم الاستعماري البرتغالي. في أبريل 1980، أصبحت المستعمرة السابقة دولة زيمبابوي المستقلة. - Although many other countries have possessed chemical and biological weapons programs, Rhodesia was one of the few countries known to have used chemical and biological agents. Rhodesian CBW use took place toward the end of Rhodesia's protracted struggle against a growing African nationalist insurgency in the late 1970s. The genesis of the Rhodesian CBW effort emerged as a result of a deteriorating security situation that developed following Mozambique's independence from Portuguese colonial rule. In April 1980, the former colony became the independent country of Zimbabwe. (en)
- Apesar de muitos outros países terem possuído programas de armas químicas e biológicas, a Rodésia foi um dos poucos países conhecidos por terem usado agentes químicos e biológicos. O programa teve início no final da prolongada luta contra o crescimento da insurgência nacionalista africana no final da década de 1970. O esforço surgiu como resultado da deterioração da situação de insegurança em que se desenvolveu a seguinte a independência de Moçambique do jugo colonial português.
