- Son-rise je jednou z terapií poruch autistického spektra (PAS), která se rozšířila z USA. Tam byla vyvinuta rodiči autismem postiženého syna (odtud název son-rise, tedy vzestup syna). Program son-rise je založen na hře ve speciální terapeutické místnosti, označované jako herna. Tuto hernu má rodina s postiženým dítětem doma, domácí herny mohou být doplněny i o obdobná zařízení ve speciálních školkách či školách. Herny slouží k interakci a působení na autistické dítě a současně ho připravují na život v okolním světě. Autoři programu, manželé Kaufmannovi učí rodiče autistických dětí přijmout postižené dítě bez předsudků. Je třeba proniknout do světa autistických dětí, poznat jejich svět a myšlení a následně je směřovat do světa zdravých lidí. (cs)

- Son-Rise is a home-based program for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities, which was developed by Barry Neil Kaufman and Samahria Lyte Kaufman for their son Raun, who was diagnosed with autism and is claimed to have fully recovered from his condition. The program is described by Autism Speaks as a "child-centered program that places parents as the key therapists and directors of their program." Parents are trained at the Kaufman's Autism Treatment Center of America (ATCA) - the division of The Option Institute in Sheffield, Massachusetts that teaches The Son-Rise Program. There, the Kaufman family and their fellow staff members teach families and professionals how to be aware of their attitudes—a core principle of the therapy—for bonding and relationship building, as well as creating a low-stimulus, distraction-free playroom or a room of attention environment so the autistic person (child or adult) can feel secure and in control of the over-stimulation. Parents and facilitators join in an autistic person's exclusive and restricted stimming behavior until the autistic person shows social cues for willing engagement. Then encouragement for more complex social activities is done in a non-coercive way. If the autistic person moves away from social interaction, the facilitator gives the autistic person their space by using parallel play in order to gain the child's or the adult's trust. To encourage skill acquisition, the program uses the autistic person's particular motivation for learning. The program's developers claim if the parents learn to accept their loved one without judgement that they will teach themselves to interact with others, and that this will allow them to engage in social interaction because they chose to learn the skills. A 2003 study found that involvement with the program led to more drawbacks than benefits for the involved families over time, though there was a strong correlation between patterns of intervention implementation and parental perceptions of intervention efficacy. A 2006 study found that the program is not always implemented as it is described in the literature, which means it will be difficult to evaluate its success and failure rate. (en)

The Son-Rise Programm) – jedna z mniej popularnych intensywnych metod terapeutycznych stosowanych w toku terapii autyzmu i zaburzeń z jego spektrum, zespołu Aspergera, PDD, jak również innych trudności rozwojowych, nauczana w Amerykańskim Centrum Terapii Autyzmu w Sheffield (Massachusetts). Podwaliną metody jest wiara w potencjał własnego dziecka i jego bezwarunkowa akceptacja, niezależnie od tego, jakie zachowania są przez dane dziecko prezentowane. Twórcami metody od 1994 byli Barry i Suzi Kaufman, którzy wyszki od poszukiwań metod leczenia własnego syna, Rauna. Mottem metody jest kochać kogoś to znaczy być z nim szczęśliwym. Metoda łączy w sobie terapię z filozofią opracowania własnego, domowego programu terapeutycznego skoncentrowanego na dziecku. Zakłada, że najlepszym źródłem wiedzy i informacji dla dziecka są rodzice, co sprawia, że jest ukierunkowany również na nich. Rodzice są nauczani konkretnych technik i narzędzi, po to, by stać się najlepszymi nauczycielami dla swoich dzieci. Metoda bazuje na ośmiu głównych założeniach: 1.
* Bądź kochający i akceptujący (miłość do dziecka takiego, jakim jest, a nie jakim powinno by być). 2.
* Nie osądzaj i nie oceniaj zachowań dziecka (brak etykietowania i oceniania zachowań). 3.
* Energia, emocje, entuzjazm, czyli 3c (całkowite zaangażowanie i entuzjazm dla działań). 4.
* Jesteśmy szczęśliwym detektywem (ciągłe wnikliwe obserwowanie dziecka celem zrozumienia jego zachowań). 5.
* Jesteśmy obecni tu i teraz (koncentracja na chwili obecnej bez obaw o przyszłość i przeszłość). 6.
* Jesteśmy wdzięczni za wszystkie dokonania dziecka (bez względu na postęp należy być zadowolonym z każdej interakcji). 7.
* Uwierz w swoje dziecko (wiara w możliwości dziecka, inspiracja do przełamywania ograniczeń). 8.
* Jesteśmy bardzo elastyczni (podążanie za dzieckiem, odrzucanie nieefektywnych metod, pogłębianie efektywnych). Metoda jest trudnym sposobem realizowania terapii opartej na relacji z drugą osobą. Nawet osoby spoza grona zwolenników wskazują, że niektóre elementy warto wykorzystywać w zakresie wspomagania innych metod terapeutycznych w spektrum autyzmu, a uwagi na kluczowe w tej chorobie ukierunkowanie na relacje.
