- Zákon o prezidentských záznamech (Presidential Records Act, PRA) z roku 1978, 44 USC §§ 2201, je zákon Kongresu Spojených států, kterým se řídí oficiální záznamy prezidentů a viceprezidentů vytvořené nebo přijaté po 20. lednu 1981, a nařizující uchování všech prezidentských záznamů. Zákon schválený 4. listopadu 1978 změnil právní status prezidentových oficiálních záznamů ze soukromých na veřejné a vytvořil novou statutární strukturu, podle níž musí prezidenti spravovat své záznamy. PRA byl novelizován v roce 2014 tak, aby zahrnoval zákaz zasílání elektronických záznamů prostřednictvím neoficiálních účtů, pokud není při přenosu zkopírován oficiální účet nebo není kopie předána na oficiální účet krátce po vytvoření. Darunter fällt auch die private Korrespondenz. Im Februar 2022 wurde bekannt, dass Präsident Trump mehrfach gegen dieses Gesetz verstoßen haben soll, indem er Dokumente in der Toilette heruntergespült haben soll, was Verstopfungen verursacht habe. Außerdem habe er Unterlagen zerrissen im Büro liegen lassen und kistenweise in sein Privatanwesen nach Florida verbringen lassen, darunter insbesondere Schreiben des nordkoreanischen Machthabers Kim Jong-un. Il PRA ha modificato la proprietà legale dei documenti ufficiali del Presidente da privata a pubblica. Nello specifico il PRA permette il pubblico accesso ai registri Presidenziali attraverso il Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) a partire da cinque anni dopo il termine di quella specifica amministrazione.
