- Der Gardel Award ist ein seit 1999 verliehener argentinischer Musikpreis, der durch die CAPIF, der heimischen Verwertungsgesellschaft, organisiert und ausgetragen wird. Der Name des Preises geht auf den argentinischen Musiker Carlos Gardel zurück. Bisher konnten , Mercedes Sosa, León Gieco, Charly García (2×), , Bersuit, Andrés Calamaro (2×), Gustavo Cerati (2×), Luis Alberto Spinetta und den „Gardel de Oro“ (deutsch: „Goldener Gardel“) gewinnen. Das Verleihungskomitee setzt sich aus Musikern, Journalisten, Produzenten und weiteren Vertretern der Musikbranche zusammen. Der Gardel Award wird in 45 Kategorien verliehen. - Los Premios Gardel a la Música (originalmente llamados Premios Carlos Gardel), o simplemente Premios Gardel, son los premios musicales más importantes concedidos en Argentina. Son organizados y otorgados por la Cámara Argentina de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas (CAPIF), y distingue lo más destacado de la música nacional, premiando el talento de los artistas argentinos en diversos géneros y categorías. Se entregan anualmente y de la serie anual, el premio más importante es el Gardel de Oro. La primera entrega se realizó en 1999. Los premios son otorgados cada año desde 1999 y premian la actividad artística realizada durante el año anterior. Desde 2003, el reglamento de las distinciones que entrega la industria discográfica a las producciones musicales estableció que el Gardel de Oro es para el ganador del rubro "mejor álbum del año". - The Premios Gardel a la Música (originally called Premios Carlos Gardel), or just Premios Gardel (in English, the Gardel Awards), is an award presented by the Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers (CAPIF) to recognize the best of Argentine music and to award the talent of Argentine artists in a diversity of genres and categories. The trophy depicts a sculpture of French Argentine tango singer Carlos Gardel, one of Argentina's music icons. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of awards that have more popular interest. The honorees are chosen by a jury consisting of musicians, journalists and other members of the media, event producers, sound engineers, and personalities related to music. The awards are the Argentine equivalent to the American Grammy Awards and the British BRIT Awards. The Premios Gardel have been described as the "most important prize in the country's music business". (en)

O prêmio é entregue anualmente e, dentre várias categorias, o prêmio mais importante é o “Gardel de Ouro”. A primeira condecoração se realizou em 1999. Ao longo dos anos, a premiação tem incorporado às categorias disputadas, novas expressões musicais, atividades e prêmios honoríficos. Os prêmios são outorgados, geralmente, no início de cada ano e premiam a atividade artística realizada no ano anterior.
