- Els nòduls limfàtics poplitis, de mida petita i en nombre de sis o set, són nòduls del sistema limfàtic que es troben inserits en el greix de la :
* Un es troba just per sota dels fascicles poplitis, prop de la part terminal de la petita, que drena la regió.
* Un altre està situat entre l'artèria poplítia i la superfície posterior de l'articulació del genoll, d'on rep els vasos limfàtics conjuntament amb aquells provinents de les artèries geniculars.
* La resta es troben al costats dels vasos poplitis, i reben com a eferents els troncs dels vasos tibials anteriors i posteriors. Les eferències de les glàndules poplíties transcorren gairebé sempre al costat dels vasos femorals, fins a les glàndules o nodes engonals profunds, però algunes podem acompanya la vena safena gran, per finalitzar a les glàndules del grup superficial subengonal. - Die Kniekehllymphknoten (Nodi lymphoidei [Nll.] poplitei oder Lymphonodi [Lnn.] poplitei) sind eine Ansammlung von Lymphknoten in der Kniekehle bei Säugetieren. Vergleichend-anatomisch werden sie zum Kniekehl (Lymphocentrum popliteum) gerechnet. Beim Menschen und auch bei Schweinen unterscheidet man zwei Lymphknotengruppen, die oberflächlichen und die tiefen Kniekehllymphknoten. Bei anderen Säugetieren ist zumeist nur eine dieser Gruppen ausgebildet. Das Einzugsgebiet (tributäres Gebiet) umfasst das Bein unterhalb des Knies. Die oberflächlichen Kniekehllymphknoten (Nll. poplitei superficiales) liegen an der Mündung der Vena saphena parva. Ihr tributäres Gebiet sind die Wade und der seitliche Fuß. Raubtiere besitzen in der Regel einen einzelnen oberflächlichen Lymphknoten in der Kniekehle (Ln. popliteus superficialis), der wie beim Menschen tastbar ist. Die tiefen Kniekehllymphknoten (Nll. poplitei profundi) liegen in Fett eingebettet unter der Kniefaszie an der Vena poplitea. Ihr Einzugsgebiet ist die Rückseite des Unterschenkels. Bei Wiederkäuern und Pferden kommen ausschließlich tiefe Kniekehllymphknoten liegen vor, die am Musculus gastrocnemius in der Tiefe der Kniekehle liegen. Die tiefen Kniekehllymphknoten sind am lebenden Individuum zumeist nicht tastbar. (de)

Otro se encuentra situado entre la arteria poplítea y la superficie posterior de la articulación de la rodilla, donde recibe los vasos linfáticos conjuntamente con los que provienen de las arterias provenientes de las arterias geniculares. El resto se encuentran a los lados de los vasos poplíteos, reciben eferentes de los vasos tibiales anteriores y posteriores. Las eferencias de las glándulas poplíteas transcurren casi siempre al costado de los vasos femorales, hasta las glándulas o nodos inguinales profundos, mientras que unas pocas acompañan a la vena safena mayor, para finalizar en las glándulas del grupo superficial subinguinal. - The popliteal lymph nodes, small in size and some six or seven in number, are embedded in the fat contained in the popliteal fossa, sometimes referred to as the 'knee pit'. One lies immediately beneath the , near the terminal part of the small saphenous vein, and drains the region from which this vein derives its tributaries, such as superficial regions of the posterolateral aspect of the leg and the plantar aspect of the foot. Another is between the popliteal artery and the posterior surface of the knee-joint. It receives afferents from the knee-joint, together with those that accompany the genicular arteries. The others lie at the sides of the popliteal vessels, and receive, as efferents, the trunks that accompany the anterior and posterior tibial vessels. The efferents of the popliteal lymph nodes pass almost entirely alongside the femoral vessels to the deep inguinal lymph nodes, but a few may accompany the great saphenous vein, and end in the glands of the superficial subinguinal group. The flow of lymph from the legs towards the heart is the result of the calf pump– during walking the calf muscle contracts, squeezing lymph out of the leg via the lymphatic vessels. When the muscle relaxes, valves in the vessels shut preventing the fluid from returning to the lower extremities. (en)
