- Police Squad (Originaltitel: Police Squad!), später umbenannt in Die nackte Pistole, ist eine US-amerikanische Comedyserie, die auf einem Konzept von Jim Abrahams, David und Jerry Zucker beruht. Die sechsteilige Serie erschien 1982 und bildete die Grundlage für den Film Die nackte Kanone, der sechs Jahre später entstand und zwei Fortsetzungen hatte. Obwohl in der Serie die gleichen Figuren wie in den Filmen auftreten, spielen nur Leslie Nielsen und Ed Williams in beiden mit. Sowohl die Serie als auch die Filme enthalten jeweils Elemente des Slapstick als auch der absurden Komödie. Dieser Stil ist fast allen ZAZ-Filmen (Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker) zu Eigen. Hier werden insbesondere die amerikanischen Krimiserien der 1970er Jahre parodiert. Als Vorbild für die Vorspannmusik und die Figur Drebin dient die Serie Dezernat M mit Lee Marvin. (de)

It was created by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker, starring Leslie Nielsen as Frank Drebin. A spoof of police procedurals and many other television shows and movies, the series features Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker's usual sight gags, wordplay, and non sequiturs. It resembles the Lee Marvin police show M Squad (in particular the opening credits) and the late 1960s series Felony Squad. - Quelli della pallottola spuntata (Police Squad!) è una serie televisiva creata nel 1982 dal trio di registi Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker, che in precedenza avevano già lavorato insieme a film come Ridere per ridere e L'aereo più pazzo del mondo. Venne creata come parodia di diversi film e telefilm, in particolar modo alla serie televisiva poliziesca Il tenente Ballinger (M Squad, 1957), con Lee Marvin. Nonostante i favori della critica, la serie venne sospesa dalla ABC dopo solo sei episodi (dei quali soltanto quattro trasmessi nel primo passaggio televisivo). Il successo della serie spinse varie emittenti televisive americane a riproporne le repliche, finché nel 1988 venne prodotto il film cinematografico Una pallottola spuntata (The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, regia di David Zucker) e, successivamente, altri due sequel: Una pallottola spuntata 2½ - L'odore della paura (The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear, regia di David Zucker, 1991) e Una pallottola spuntata 33⅓ - L'insulto finale (Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult, di Peter Segal, 1994). Molte gag della serie vennero riciclate per i film. In Italia, la serie venne proposta sulla scia del successo ottenuto precedentemente dal film, da qui la scelta di un titolo che lo richiamasse. - Frank, Ed, and Norberg investigate the kidnapping of Terri Burton , the daughter of a wealthy businessman, who has been kidnapped during her 18th birthday party. The kidnappers demand $1,000,000 ransom money. The only witness to the kidnapping is Burton's boyfriend Kingsley Addison , who had plans to marry Burton. (en)

- Sally Decker , a teller at a credit union, murders her boss so she can steal money from the credit union and pay her orthodontist the money she owed. She kills a customer and frames him for the murder. The Police Squad department is called in to investigate the case. Frank is suspicious about the customer's guilt. (en)
- Frank investigates a body of a struggling comedian found at the bottom of a cliff in a car crash. Although the comedian's death appears to be a suicide, Frank soon learns that this comedian was an informant on a drug ring he infiltrated at his nightclub. - The Police Squad department is sent to investigate a bombing at the courthouse. The main suspect is Eddie Casales , a bomber who was sent to jail by the victims killed in the explosion. Following the attack on the courthouse, the assistant DA who prosecuted Casales is killed with a bomb hidden in his car. All evidence points to Casales, but Frank thinks it is a setup. (en)

- To expose corrupt boxing manager Mr. Martin , Frank goes undercover as manager Bob Kelly. Frank makes a deal with boxer Buddy Briggs, whom he trains for a title fight against the current champion "The Champ" . However, Martin has kidnapped Briggs's wife, and will only release her if Briggs deliberately loses the fight. Frank has to find Buddy's wife before Buddy gets knocked out. (en)
- After a small group of mobsters blackmail various store-owners, Frank and Norberg go undercover and set up a key-making and locksmith store. The mobsters offer Frank "protection" in exchange for money, but Frank declines. While they attack the store with guns, Frank and Norberg's Locksmith store remains, enraging the mobsters' boss. (en)
