- Ο Πέτρος Καστροφύλακας (Piero Castrofilaca) ήταν Ενετός λογιστής, γραμματέας των προβλεπτών, ιδιαίτερος των συνδίκων Γκρίτη και Γκαρζώνη. Είναι γνωστός για την απογραφή των ενετοκρατούμενων νησιών της Ελλάδας, την οποία ο ίδιος πραγματοποίησε το 16ο αιώνα. Πιθανότατα γεννήθηκε στο Χάνδακα (σημερινό Ηράκλειο). Πραγματοποίησε τη συστηματική καταγραφή του πληθυσμού της Κρήτης και άλλων περιοχών όπως τα Επτάνησα το 1583Η απογραφή του Καστροφύλακα έγινε έπειτα από εντολή των Ενετικών αρχών και η οποία βασίστηκε σε προγενέστερη που έγινε το 1577 από τον επίσης Ενετό προβλέπτη . Castrofilaca conducted a systematic recording of the population of Crete. His census was based on an earlier census carried out in 1577 by the predictor Foscarini.
