- Petrus Riga (12. století? - 1209?) byl francouzský básník píšící latinsky. Byl kanovníkem v Remeši. Je autorem biblického eposu Aurora (tj. jitřenka). Jedná se o veršovaný alegorický výklad většiny biblických knih složený v elegickém distichu. Jeho dílo se hodně četlo na školách, kde bylo také komentováno. (cs)

In lateinischer Sprache verfasste er die Aurora, eine im späteren Mittelalter einflussreiche Versbibel.In spätmittelalterlichen Manuskripten wird er auch oft als Petrus de Riga bezeichnet, was fälschlicherweise eine Herkunft aus dem lettischen Riga suggeriert. Er studierte in Paris. Beichner gibt 1965 248 erhaltene Handschriften an. Seither wurden noch weitere gefunden, wie z. B. Cod.Sal.IX,30 und Cod.Sal.IX,62, die beide in der Heidelberger Universitätsbibliothek liegen und auch digital verfügbar sind. (de)

Although it has been called the verse Bible (Biblia versificata) of the middleages it is not just a collection of versified paraphrases. He was a canon of Reims Cathedral, and wrote many works. He was an influence on John Gower. Vox Clamantis contains several passages taken from Aurora. Gower cites Riga as an authority in Book III Chapter 25. (en)
