  • Pavilhão Atlântico (pron. , Atlantic Pavilion in English) is an arena in Lisbon, Portugal. The idea to build Atlantic Pavilion was born in the first discussions over Expo’98 Master Plan. It serves as a multi-event venue, holds major concerts and other uses. Pavilhão Atlântico holds 20,000 people and was built in 1998 for the Expo '98. It holds the world record for Attendance in Indoor Soccer when Sporting played As Roma for the European Cup of Indoor Soccer. 8.500 people attended the game. Originally, it was named Utopia Pavilion. Before completion Portuguese halls, in the capital or throughout the country, either had limited capacity up to 4 thousand people – or were hardly adaptable to non-conventional events, like indoor high competition sports. One of the most marking events to ever take place there were the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2005. The biggest concert was a Shakira concert on April 23, 2007 when 20,000 people attended. In addition, World Wrestling Entertainment has presented four house shows there, on December 4 & 5, 2006 and June 8 & 9, 2007. The December 4 event was the first WWE event in 13 years to take place in Portugal. All the shows were sold out. To be noted that the December 2006 events featured the SmackDown! brand and the June 2007 featured the RAW brand. The RAW brand returns to the arena on April 19, 2008. The tenth installment of Dave Matthews Band's Live Trax series was recorded at Pavilhão Atlântico in May 2007. A lot of artists have already made concerts in Pavilhão Atlântico. Here's a list of some: * Anastacia * The Black Eyed Peas * The Pussycat Dolls, in the Cidade FM: Move Ya Body event * Rihanna, in the Cidade FM: Move Ya Body event * Beyoncé * Shakira * Enrique Iglesias * Julio Iglesias * Scorpions * Marilyn Manson * Da Weasel * Mariza * Il Divo * Ricky Martin * George Michael * Placido Domingo * Mickael Carreira * Incubus * Andrea Bocelli * Ben Harper * Simply Red * Pearl Jam * Joaquín Cortés * Ivete Sangalo * Tony Carreira * Jack Johnson * Roberto Carlos * Depeche Mode * Busta Rhymes * Backstreet Boys * Maria Rita * 50 Cent * Eros Ramazzotti * Pedro Abrunhosa * The Doors * Robbie Williams * Linkin Park * Iron Maiden * Daniela Mercury * Bryan Adams * Moby * Limp Bizkit * Slipknot * Rui Veloso * Joe Cocker * The Who In the future, Pavilhão Atlântico will receive: * Tokio Hotel * The Cure * Charles Aznavour * Korn * Alicia Keys" (en)
