- Cuarto disco de estudio de la banda suiza Samael. Nuevamente bajo la producción de , Samael consolidó el nuevo sonido en que se había embarcado desde Ceremony of Opposites, aunque ahora bastante más "orquestado" y más cercano al black metal de los noventa, como una versión suave de Emperor o Dimmu Borgir. Frente a la partida de Rodolphe H., Xy (ya no Xytras) vuelve a los teclados, pero ahora utiliza una batería programada para lo referente a la percusión, Vorph (ya no Vorphalack) se mantiene en la guitarra y voces y Masmiseim en el bajo. Por su parte, las líricas abandonan definitivamente el satanismo, centrándose ahora en temas filosóficos, cosmológicos y existencialistas, tales como la iluminación espiritual, la fortaleza interior o la unión de contrarios. Aparece también el primer tema romántico de Samael (Moonskin), aunque sea decididamente pesimista. (es)
- Passage is the fourth album by Swiss industrial metal band Samael, released on 19 August 1996 through Century Media. On this album, the band opted for more intensive use of keyboards and industrial sounds, drifting from their black metal roots and progressing in a different direction. Lyrically the band abandoned satanic themes and veered more towards the occult and the cosmic. While it differs from its predecessors, Passage can be credited for thrusting Samael from the underground scene and giving the band a much larger international audience. The album was originally recorded with a 17-song track list but was later cut down to 11. The remaining songs can be found on the album Exodus. A second edition was later offered containing 10 classical piano compositions from the album on a second disk. In 2007, a remastered, re-packaged, special edition was released containing the album's original 17 song track list. Over a decade after its original release is still considered by many to be a pillar in the black/industrial metal genre. A video for "Jupiterian Vibe" received regular airplay on MTV's Headbangers Ball. (en)

W trakcie sesji nagraniowej do Passage powstało więcej utworów, niż znalazło się na płycie - pozostałe ukazały się w 1998 r. jako EP Exodus. , wówczas pod pseudonimem Xytras, nagrał alternatywną, neoklasycystyczną wersję płyty Passage, zawierającą także dwa utwory z Exodus. Album Xytrasa został wydany w 2007 r. nakładem Century Media Records. W 2007 r. wydana została przez Century Media Records reedycja albumu zawierająca dodatkowo utwory z Exodus oraz nową okładkę.
