- Palapa-D was an Indonesian geostationary communications satellite which was operated by Indosat Ooredoo. It was built by Thales Alenia Space, based on the Spacebus-4000B3 satellite bus, and carries 35 C-band and 5 Ku-band transponders. It was positioned in geostationary orbit at a longitude of 113° East, where it will replace the Palapa-C2 satellite. Indosat ordered Palapa-D from Thales Alenia Space on 2 July 2007. The satellite was built without using American components, and was therefore not restricted by U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which allowed the China Great Wall Industry Corporation to be selected as a launch service provider. - Satelit Palapa D (kode internasional = 2009-046A) adalah satelit komunikasi Indonesia yang dimiliki dan dioperasikan oleh PT Indosat Tbk dan diluncurkan pada tanggal 31 Agustus 2009 pukul 16:28 WIB di Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC) menggunakan roket Long March (Chang Zheng) 3B. Satelit ini dibuat oleh Thales Alenia Space, Prancis, dan dimaksudkan sebagai pengganti satelit Palapa C2 pada Orbit Geo Stasioner slot 113º BT yang telah selesai masa operasionalnya pada tahun 2011. Satelit Palapa D telah resmi habis masa operasinya pada tanggal 31 Agustus 2020 dan digantikan oleh Satelit Palapa N1 (Nusantara 2). Namun sayangnya Satelit Palapa N1 (Nusantara 2) yang telah diluncurkan pada 9 April 2020 tersebut gagal mengorbit dan hancur berkeping-keping. Namun setelah resmi terjadi gangguan satelit pada tanggal 31 Agustus 2020 akhirnya Palapa D dinyatakan tidak layak beroperasi dan dipindahkan oleh Satelit Telkom-4 dan BRIsat. (in)

O satélite não conseguiu atingir a órbita geoestacionária devido a uma falha do Longa Marcha 3B, mas a Thales Alenia Space foi capaz de manobrá-lo para a órbita geoestacionária planejada, embora com um tempo de vida reduzido.
