- Olga Avigail Mieleszczuk est chanteuse, accordéoniste, folkloriste à la recherche de traditions musicales d'Europe de l'Est. Née à Varsovie, elle vit à Jérusalem, tout en partageant son temps avec Varsovie. Olga Avigail Mieleszczuk a fait des études de musique classique. Dès le début de sa carrière, elle s'est concentrée sur la musique juive ashkénaze, tout particulièrement celles des Confins (Kresy) de la Pologne (Galicie, Polésie). Elle a participé à de nombreux cours et séminaires consacrés au folklore et aux chansons yiddish, entre autres au séminaire de deux ans du Théâtre juif de Varsovie, également à Weimar ainsi que les techniques traditionnelles des musiques slaves (par exemple la "voix blanche" ukrainienne). Olga Avigail Mieleszczuk a étudié le yiddish au Yung Yiddish à Tel Aviv et chante le plus souvent en yiddish. Olga Avigail est à l’origine de nombreux concerts interculturels. Ses principaux projets aboutissent en discographie. Sa notoriété semble sortir de plus en plus largement des frontières de la Pologne et d’Israël. (fr)
- Olga Avigail Mieleszczuk is a singer, accordion player and researcher of Eastern European musical folklore, known for singing Ashkenazi Jewish songs in Yiddish. In 2012 Olga Mieleszczuk converted to Orthodox Judaism, acquired the first name Avigail and now she lives in Israel. Olga Mieleszczuk was born in Warsaw to a Polish Catholic family. She received B.A. in classical music from the Chopin University of Music, Warsaw and M.S. in cultural anthropology from the University of Warsaw. After enrolling in a course on Yiddish music by Warsaw's Shalom Foundation, she focused on Ashkenazi Jewish music, especially from the Eastern Borderlands of Poland, she studied Chassidic music, Yiddish folk songs, as well as Jewish songs in various languages. Her interest in Jewish culture was sparkled by an interfaith visit to Auschwitz. Her major musical projects were Jewish Polesye, Li-La-Lo (based on the Yiddish-language cabarets of Poland (called kleynkunst) and Tel Aviv) and Jewish Tango. Her husband Shlomi is of Kurdish descent and they have two children. (en)
