- Nedenes is a village in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located in the southern part of Arendal, just north of the municipal border with Grimstad. The Norwegian County Road 420 runs through the village heading north to the village of Rød and onwards to the island of Hisøya to the north. Engene Church is located in Nedenes. The county of Agder was named Nedenes amt from the 1600s until 1919. This name was chosen because the Nedenes village was once a large, medieval farm and later was the seat of the county officials. - Nedenes is een klein dorp in de gemeente Arendal in de fylke Agder in het zuiden van Noorwegen. Het dorp, nauwelijks meer dan een gehucht, was in het verleden zetel van een tingrett. De provincie Aust-Agder ontstond in 1918 en kwam vrijwel overeen met het dat werd gesticht in 1662. In het dorp staat een kerk, de Engene kirke, die hier in 1882 opnieuw werd opgetrokken. De kerk was eerder gebouwd in 1849 in Grimstad, maar was voor die stad snel te klein. Het werd daar afgebroken en in Nedenes opnieuw opgebouwd. (nl)
