- National Records of Scotland (schottisch-gälisch Cofnodion Gwladol yr Alban) ist eine in der schottischen Hauptstadt Edinburgh ansässige Behörde. Sie entstand am 1. * die Durchführung der in zehnjährigem Turnus durchgeführten Volkszählungen und deren Aufbereitungen
* die Führung des Personenstandsregisters, also die Registrierung von Geburten, Eheschließungen, Scheidungen, Adoptionen und Todesfällen
* die Aufbewahrung von Patientendaten des National Health Service
* die Archivierung historischer Dokumente und Artefakte Der Hauptsitz von National Records of Scotland ist das , ebenfalls öffentlich zugänglich ist das benachbart liegende . Neben drei weiteren Standorten in der Stadt gibt es noch einen im Cairnsmore House in Dumfries. Geleitet wird die Behörde, die innerhalb des schottischen Kabinetts, Stand 2018, in den Verantwortungsbereich der Kultusministerin Fiona Hyslop fällt, von Tim Ellis, der in Personalunion zugleich Registrar General for Scotland und Keeper of the Records of Scotland ist. - National Records of Scotland (Scottish Gaelic: Clàran Nàiseanta na h-Alba) is a non-ministerial department of the Scottish Government. It is responsible for civil registration, the census in Scotland, demography and statistics, family history, as well as the national archives and historical records. National Records of Scotland was formed from the merger of the General Register Office for Scotland and the National Archives of Scotland in 2011; it combines all the functions of the two former organisations. The offices of Registrar General for Scotland and Keeper of the Records of Scotland remain separate, but since 2011 both have been vested ex officio in the Chief Executive of National Records of Scotland, currently Paul Lowe.
